Interesting Facts About the Porsche 911

Published

Our German car mechanic in Lakeview knows how coveted the Porsche 911 is, and for good reason. This is one of the most recognizable and stylish vehicles in the world, flaunting a sleek, sophisticated and timeless look for any driver behind the wheel. If you’ve been on the fence about investing in a Porsche, we bet the following unique facts can help push you over the edge.

It’s Porsche’s Top-Selling Model

Regardless of how many other models Porsche has on the market, the Porsche 911 continues to be the company’s top-selling model. This model has been made in Stuttgart, Germany since it originated in 1964.

Early Models Used Volkswagen Parts

Porsche faced parts shortages back in the day, forcing them to rely on using parts from Volkswagen Beetle models. Approximately 75,000 Porsche vehicles were made with Beetle parts over a 15-year period.

Originally Called the Porsche 901

No, that is not a typo. The original name for this particular model was going to be the Porsche 901 instead of the Porsche 911. However, it came to light that France was awarded exclusive rights to car names that have three numbers with the middle number being a 0. To avoid further issues or complications, the number was changed from 901 to 911.

Porsche’s Original Maker Made the First Hybrid Car

Car inventor Ferdinand Porsche designed the first hybrid car at age 25. Keep in mind that this was in the 1900s. Talk about a man being wise beyond his years.

If you have a Porsche of your own that you need to be serviced, our German car mechanic in Lakeview is happy to help!

What Our Clients Are Saying

I've been taking my car to VFC for nearly 4 years. Zach and his team have always been extremely communicative, make complicated car issues easy to understand, and decisions easy to weigh...I trust VFC WAY more than I ever did the local Audi dealership in Chicago. I genuinely believe they have my best interests in mind.”

Finally had some time to rate and review. Was having issues with my 3 series and was anticipating bad news. Zach and Carlos diagnosed and repaired my issue. Now the car drives like new. Amazing! Plus the 3yr/36k warranty on the work- you just can’t beat that. Honestly, that’s just confidence behind their work. I’m bringing in my fleet. Thank you guys!

Bought a used 2014 x3 as an extra with 2 new/young drivers. VFC was great on the prepurchase inspection AND normal maintenance and minor repairs since then. I trust that they manage what needs to be done - not just looking at a list and doing/charging me. Trust matters and the value is good!
